About Us

Pétur Sigurdsson was born in Iceland, but lived in Los Angeles from 1990-2000. He has a BA in Film & Television from Columbia College Hollywood. After graduating, Petur worked in Production and Art Department on movies and commercials in Los Angeles. Petur moved back to Iceland in 2000 and started working at Sagafilm as Production Service Producer. In 2004 Petur accepted a position as Head of Production at Pegasus Pictures, where he stayed until 2006, when he became freelance but continued to work mostly for Pegasus on projects like “Game of Thrones” and “Fortitude”. Since 2016 Peppi has been producing for his own company, “On the Rocks Productions” in Iceland. In 2019 Peppi took on the role of Line Producer on the TV series “One Bad Apple”, which is planned to film in Romania in 2021. When searching for production service partners in Romania, Peppi was introduced to Andrei and Ionut and from that time on, their partnership as well as friendship has grown, creating the fertile soil for Midnight Sun Film.

Since his very first contact with the film industry, at the end of the 90’s and the beginning of the 2000’s, Ionuţ understood that film and television were an extraordinary mean of promoting the values and the irrefutable beauty of a country. Native of Transylvania, born in the foothills of Retezat Mountains, Ionuţ focused a great deal of his energy in drawing projects by means of which Romania was to be placed on the world’s beautiful map. After graduating the most important National University of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography from Romania, Caragiale Academy of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography, he was always drawn to developing artistic projects, to implementing creative ideas by attracting the necessary sources of funding and by the sound management of the available resources. During the course of the seven years in which he worked in the area of advertising, he led Above the Line and Below the Line departments of important creation and implementation agencies in Bucharest, and, during the 10 years of audio-visual production and film distribution, Ionuț founded and developed 6 companies that produced over 2000 hours of audio-visual footage. Producer of the most viewed segments about Romania broadcasted by the main television networks, Discovery Network, Travel Channel, National Geographic, Animal Planet, Ionuț’s track record includes being a producer of two internationally awarded feature films (SA NU UCIZI/BIOCID, directed by Cătălin Rotaru and Gabi Șarga, and Tortured for Christ, directed by John Grooters), and also of 60 commercials for Romanian, but mainly for international clients.

On each and every project, his area of expertise allows him to executively oversee the budget, the contracts and the organizational structure. The relationship with the authorities and the state institutions, with the partners and the co-producers, with the creation and implementation teams, but also the actual negotiations with the film service providers, are one of the tasks he happily undertakes.
